Jordan Phillips is the Miami Dolphins breakout candidate nobody’s talking about, and Jeff Hafley just said why. Bruce Feldman had him 51st on The Athletic’s Freaks List in 2024 off a 665 pound squat, a 365 power clean and a 365 overhead press for two reps. Mike Locksley called him a manchild. Then he got to the combine and put up 29 reps at 225, more than any other defensive tackle in that class, and still sat there until pick 143. His rookie stat line reads zero sacks and one tackle for loss. Zero. But through Miami’s first 12 games the run defense gave up 4.4 yards a carry with him on the field and 5.5 with him off it. That gap is the whole job. He takes the double team, the linebacker stays clean, and somebody else makes the tackle and gets his name in the box score. Hafley also said Phillips would be in the sauna at 5AM on a weekend the team had off. Who’s the most underrated guy on this roster to you? Quote via Kyle Crabbs, A to Z Sports.
