Cold weather is not an ideal condition to air the ball out. Snow & wind make it even tougher! The Dolphins have a terrible record in cold weather games since even before Mike McDaniel came to Miami Gardens (I refuse to say South Beach 🏖️).
Pretending that the Dolphins have some sort of home field crowd advantage is silly. We are not a loud bunch. Pretending that the atmosphere for all 53 men is the softest in the NFL doesn’t make much sense either. It’s impossible to believe every pro athlete on the team wants nothing more than a shopping spree on Brickell & a yacht party. The law of probability excludes this narrative.
So why would the Dolphins have such an issue with cold weather games? Simple! We have not built up our ground and pound game since Jay Ajayi in 2016! 👀
But here’s the kicker. We are more than being limited to which team can smash more brains 🧠
In cold weather, traditionally you rely on strength and power at the running-back position. The Packers have theirs with Josh Jacobs. We do not. So can we still win? Absofreakinlutely!!! Here’s why.
The Packers rely on deep ball completions! Similar to the 2023 & 2022 Dolphins, if the deep ball isn’t working for them, they have issues with their run game and short passing game.
The Dolphins are the complete opposite! For weeks and including a close late game loss to the Bills, the Dolphins have absolutely demolished the short passing game. Jonnu Smith just had a career day. OBJ and Malik Washington have proven to demand respect as WR3’s. Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill have retooled their receiving brains to move the chains instead of burning the field 🔥. Really, we have seen a turning event in head coach Mike McDaniel (I believe long term). If they cut off the deep ball you have to adjust 🤯😂
But the key to this whole game? De’Von Achane! Actually I will add that I do feel Jaylen Wright and Raheem Mostert can add enough power punch up the gut to threaten when necessary. However, Achane’s elite vision coupled with his receiving capabilities will blow the doors off of this game!
You might think that a power back like Josh Jacobs is the only way to get this done. I disagree!
Another factor in the soon to be Packers loss is the loss of Jaire Alexander! Imagine if the Dolphins lost Jalen Ramsey… God forbid, but I’d think you’d be pretty nervous as a Dolphins fan 👀
There are other several Packers injuries like LB Edgerrin Cooper (which will help the run game) and WR3 Romeo Doubs.
Let’s add that the snow should be minimum, wind is only expected to be 14mph and Jordan Love likes.. no loves to stand in the pocket for a long time! And we have maybe the fastest Edge rusher in the NFL (chop chop 🪓).
Don’t be surprised if this game is close but also don’t be surprised if the Miami Dolphins make the Packers look like the New England Patriots of week 12 👀
